20-year-old Naomi Osaka wins her 2nd title of the year and the 2nd title of her career defeating Serena Williams 6-2, 6-4 in the final of the US Open. She’s only won twice so far but she’s winning huge titles in Indian Wells (1000) and now The US Open (2000). A great achievement for such a young player. Naomi was born 10/16/97 in Osaka, Japan and resides in Boca Raton, FL. Her mother is Japanese, and her father is Haitian.
Her victories at the US Open:
1st round – Laura Siegemund (GER), 2 titles, (rank up 25 spots to 121)
2nd round – Julia Glushko (ISR), 0 titles, (rank up 35 spots to 127)
3rd round – Aliaksandra Sasnovich (BLR), 0 titles, ranked 33 (rank up 3 spots to 30)
4th round – Aryna Sabalenka (BLR), 1 title, (rank up 0 spots to 20)
QF round – Lesia Tsurenko (UKR), 4 titles, (rank up 10 spots to 26)
SF round – Madison Keys (USA), 3 titles, (rank down 4 spots to 18)
F round – Serena Williams (USA), 72 titles, (rank up 10 spots to 16)
Winner – Naomi Osaka (JPN), 2 titles, (rank up 12 spots to 7)
I’m sure you witnessed the Serena Williams MELTDOWN she PERFORMED during the final against Naomi. I have too many negative feelings about that final match that I won’t express here but I’d like to sum up my feelings in one word for Serena and Naomi:
Serena: UNLIKEABLE
Naomi: UNBREAKABLE
Congratulations Naomi! Keep up the good work!!!!
